School Policies Term 1 2021

Registration and Parent/Guardian Policy


1. Registration must be submitted online.  You can not register in person / text / email / messenger / social media


2. Administration fee of $25 for dancer or $35 per family is due each Term Payment.  Administration Fee covers the expense of record keeping, accounting, insurance, legal, office supplies, expense of COVID-19 prevention measures put in place, giveaways, and other administrative costs.  


3. Registration is on a first come first serve basis. Spots are not held Term to Term or Year to Year.  Each Term is a New Registration.


4. Request/Inquiry to Register Submission does not secure your spot. 


5. Registration is accepted when Registration Form has been received and invoice has been paid.


6. Payment is made in the full "Term" amount for each class, there is no option of monthly payment or pay for all "Terms" at once.  Each Term is a new registration defined by the set "Term" dates.  Registration and Payment covers classes defined by the set dates for each "Term" 


7. Discounts are not applicable after Term has commenced. Sibling discount can not be combined with other discounts.


8. The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) Reserves the right to refuse and or cancel a students registration and enrolment at any time.


9. If registration is split between two parties, complete payment and agreement submission from both parties is required for student to be permitted in class. Each party must submit a registration form. 


10. A dancer will not be permitted to take the class if a payment is not received.


11. Students will not participate in the recital until all fees, late charges, damage charges and costume balances are received.


12. We require all students and parents to wash and disinfect their hands upon entering the studio and after every washroom use.  Dancers are required to use hand sanitizer when exiting studio in order to stop the spread of any germs. If you do not wish to use the hand sanitizers that we provide, parents and dancers will have to use their own hand sanitizer witnessed by our staff member or Director.   


13. The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.), assumes no responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged goods.


14. A minimum of 5 students need to be enrolled in order for a class to run. If classes are unable to run due to insufficient numbers; then you will receive a full refund for lessons minus the Administration Fee that is non refundable.


15.  If a dancer drops a class/classes or changes a class/classes but is not withdrawing from the studio a $40 adjustment fee is charged.  As student is enrolled and confirmed registered in the program(s) and taking a spot.


16. There are no full refunds or transfers of fees to other programs or siblings of any payments received by The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) including the unused portion of a Term Payment, Admin fee, media fee, summer camp, missed classes, choreography fees, costume fee, competition fees, rehearsal fees, dance gear and other merchandise purchase. 


17. If you register within the first month of the Term there is no pro rated fee. Administration fee $30 for individual or $40 for family. 


18. If you register after the first month of the Term, the Term is pro rated at a different amount. Administration fee $30 for individual or $40 for family. 


19. Please pick up your dancer promptly after class.


20. Students under the age of four years are not permitted in the studio with out a parent/guardian present when they are not in class. Students must have a designated adult chaperone before and after class.


21. No Loitering is permitted in the foyer. 


22. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure that we are informed of any change in telephone number, address, contact info in the event of emergency. 


23. Any medical conditions and treatment that apply to your cild should also be indicated on your registration form. Any new medical conditions that are brought to the attention of The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) will be evaluated and assessed to ensure the safety of the dancer and others. 


24. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to read and respond to emails in a timely manner. Parents/Guardians are responsible to pay fees due to lack of communication.


25. Parents are responsible to keep child home with any symptoms of Covid-19 or any other illness to avoid the spread to others.


26. Tuition for dance classes covers classes that are to be taught "in person" and "virtual".  If during the course of the Term we have to switch from "in person" to "virtual/online" your class date and time will remain the same. You will receive instructions on connecting to your virtual class/online.  Classes are not put on hold or postponed due to Government Restrictions. 


27. The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) has the right to move "in person" lessons to "virtual/online" at anytime during the Term. In the event you would like to cancel you would have to adhere to our cancellation policy. 


28. "Virtual/Online lessons" are accessible by all Phones, Tablet, iPad or Computer. It is your responsibility to connect to your class at the scheduled date and time. There are no refunds or make up classes for missed virtual classes.


29. Tuition will not be adjusted, credited or refunded if the dancer is not able to attend class due to illness, injury or any other circumstances. 


30. If you register after the Term has started there is no sibling discount.


31. Processing fees are non refundable. 


32. The Director is not the sole instructor.  Instructors, Guest Teachers, Substitute Teachers are highly qualified instructors and may operate your dancers class at different times of the year. 


33. Cell phones, Ipods, and camera's (or any recording devices) are prohibited from the changing room & bathroom areas.


34. Students may bring their electronics into class to prevent theft, but they must be turned OFF or Ringer Off. The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc. will not be held responsible for missing or stolen personal items. 


35. The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) Reserves the right to refuse admission of entry if clients are not adhering to our policies put into place due to COVID-19.  


36. No make up classes, pro-rate fees or refunds for missed classes due to illness or injury


37. Each Term is clearly stated on our website, brochure and invoice with the dates.  Class cancellation due to holidays, inclement weather or extenuating circumstances and extra non class times such as practices, rehearsals, studio events/performances, staff at competition. and staff at picture day have already been taking into account in determining the Term Tuition Fee.


38. The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) will be following the recommended provincial guidelines and protocols to prevent the transmission of infection for COVID-19. The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) will do their utmost to ensure the safety of participating families, dancers, and staff at the studio.  Extra time and care will be in place for cleaning and sanitization which may be performed before, during and after hours of operation. Please note there may be times that classes will have to be shortened or start late by 5-10 minutes to allow staff to sanitize accordingly. Tuition fees will not be adjusted if such prevention measures for the spread of COVID-19 take place during your dancer's class time.

Cancellation Policy

1. In the Case you need to cancel you must submit your request to The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) by email to info@TheEdgePA.ca  before the Term commences or within the first month of the Term. No exceptions. Once notice is received, refund will be provided minus one months tuition fees plus a 10% Admin fee per child is applied.  No cancellations after the first 4 weeks of the Term has taken place. 

2.  Allow 30 days for a refund to process
3. Requests made via social media, or personal messages are not considered valid for cancellation request.
4. Administration Fees are non refundable.
5. There are No Refunds for any "Specialty Routine" ie. Solo, Duet, Trio, Small Group, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Musical Theatre. There is no grace period or negotiation based on attendance.
6. If you cancel a private lesson - 24 hour notice must be made or you are charged full session amount.
7. If you have more then one dancer registered and one dancer cancels, there is no transferring of fees.
8. Refunds are issued to the card that was used to make the purchase.

Dance Team Policy


1. By joining the Edge Performing Arts Inc. Dance Team you are adhering to all policies and procedures that have been put in place.


2. Costumes will be paid for before they are ordered. Costumes will not be ordered if payment is not received.  


3. Costumes approx. cost $60 - $150


4. Each Term is clearly stated on our website, brochure and invoice with the dates and the total amount of weeks.  Class cancellation due to holidays, inclement weather or extenuating circumstances and extra non class times such as practices, rehearsals, studio events/performances, staff at competition. and staff at picture day have already been taking into account in determining the Term Tuition.


5. The only mandatory class to be part of our Dance Team is a one hour ballet class (two 30 min ballet classes for Int & Sr Team, one 40 min ballet class for Jr Team) From there you have the option to add jazz, lyrical, tap, contemporary, hip hop or specialty routines.


6. Competitive Team Code of Conduct has been given to each Team Member in their welcome package.


7. Competition entry fees are collected from you "the client" and are administered to the Competition from The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) on "the clients" behalf. By attending such competitions "the client" accepts any liabilities that may occur and which "the client" may incur and not The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) such liabilities might include cancelation due to pandemic, weather or unforeseen circumstances. "The Client" understands that The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) is not holding their entry fees. Entry fees are collected on behalf of "the client" and sent to the competition. Travel costs and accommodations for each competition are the responsibility of "the client". Competition fees and any ordered costumes will be the responsibility of "the client" as they are not refundable by the competition/suppliers.  The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) continues to email each family "client" updates, communication and website links from each Dance Competition Company.


8. You understand that The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.)  is not holding your entry fees. Your entry fees are collected on your behalf and sent to the competition. 


9. There will be no refunds on partially attended months.


10. It is the dancers’ responsibility to remember choreography and to learn and practice any choreography missed due to absences before their next practice.


11. Dancers wanting a “Specialty Routine” ie. solo, duet, trio or small group must submit their request on the registration form. All applications are reviewed by the Director.


12. Choreography fees are outlined on the registration form.


13. No refunds on any "Specialty Routine” ie. solo duet trio small group, hip hop, contemporary, private lesson or musical theatre.


14. Entry fees must be paid by the required due date.  Failure to do so will result in your dancer not participating in competitions. 


15. When registering to compete at such events you are adhering to the Competitions Release of Liability and Policies.  These policies and waivers will be sent to each family. 


16. You are releasing The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) from any liabilities associated with attending these competitions.


17. It is your responsibility to review the terms and conditions of these competitions. You will be provided their website with their terms and conditions.  


18. When entering competitions you agree to all entry fees you have paid.


19. The Edge Performing Arts Inc. is not responsible or liable for any entry fees you have paid to the competition


20. All students on the Dance Team (Jr, Int, Sr) perform in the annual recital unless illness or family emergency


21. The Edge School of Performing Arts charges a 10% processing fee on entry fees. The processing fee covers costs of setting up each dancers name and birthdate in each competitions data system, manually entering each routine and dancers in the competitions data system, entering music time limit and if props are being used, uploading music and labeling each file to the entry numbers given by each competition, video taping, video upload submission, video encoding, financial transaction and processing fees, accounting fees for invoice set up and processing payments. If refunds are given by a competition or there is a change fee for virtual, The Edge School of Performing Arts charges a 10% processing fee for accounting fees, processing refunds, financial transaction fees.


22. The 2021-22 Dance Teams will compete at 3 mandatory competition events. 


23. Indemnification and Release of Liability Policy: By registering you agree to waive, release and forever discharge any and all claims or causes of actions which you may have now or hereafter against The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.), whether known or unknown, arising out of any injuries, contraction of infectious communicable disease, or damage that the undersigned may sustain in connection to their participation in program and will indemnify and hold harmless The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.), it's directors, officers, employees, volunteers and agents (collectively, the "Released Parties") you further agree not to sue The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) for the claims waived and released in our School Policies. 


24. You will be added to our Team App and will receive updates by email.  You can Download TeamApp to any device. When you use TeamApp, you may grant certain permissions to use your device. Most mobile devices provide you with information about these permissions. For most iOS devices: Open the iOS Settings screen; and select the app to see the features the app has permission to use. For most Windows devices, on the Start screen, tap or click Store to open the Windows Store, search or browse for an app, and then tap or click it; and scroll to the Details section of the app's description page to see the features the app has permission to use.  When you use our Site or Apps, you may also be using the services of one or more third parties, such as a wireless carrier or a mobile platform provider. Your use of these third party services may be subject to the separate policies, terms of use, and fees of these third parties.

Classroom and Code Of Conduct Policy

1. The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.)  has the right to reserve and change the dance platform to in person or virtual.
2. If student arrives 10min late student will observe.
3. Respect for teachers, parents and peers will be expected at all times.
4. Respect others personal space.
5. Appropriate attire
6. No swearing or foul language
7. No cellphone use during class.

Attendance Policy

- As with any program, steady attendance is requirement for success. Failure to meet such requirements may lead to dismissal from the program or adjustment in level. Charges and tuition may apply.
- Guardians are responsible for communicating absences to the dance studio through email at info@TheEdgePA.ca at least 24 hours in advance.  If The Edge School of Performing Arts doesn't receive a response within 48 hours after the date of absence, the dancer will not be able to attend their next class until communication has been received and the dancer is cleared to return to class. 
Any student that misses 3 consecutive weeks or more may be required to forfeit their class space - but will not be offered any discount or tuition credit.

School Closure Policy

Bad Weather:
1. Classes cancelled due to inclement or bad weather will not be made up. If studio is closed for reasons outside of our control, we are not obligated to have a make up class.  When The Edge School of Performing Arts is closed due to inclement weather, classes are cancelled and not moved to "virtual classroom". 

2. When classes are moved to "virtual classroom" and not able to be delivered virtually for reasons outside of our control we are not obligated to have a make up class. 
3. There are no refunds for cancelled classes.

4. Notifications of cancelled classes are sent via email from The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) email address theedgepa@icloud.com by 3:30pm and posted on Website TheEdgePA.ca


Pandemic / Closure for reasons outside of our control:
1. The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.), can not refund tuition if forced to close due to an event out of their control ie. war, riots, pandemic, natural disaster, government restrictions, political protests, terrorism.  If classes are not able to be delivered virtually/online, a credit towards the customers account will be issued accordingly or the customer can decide to cancel but will adhere to the cancellation policy; one months tuition fees plus a 10% processing fee per child is applied.

Illness/Injury Policy

Illness

1. All students are requested not to attend class if feeling unwell which include symptoms of cough or cold, temperature or any other.  
2. No make up classes, pro-rate fees or refunds for missed classes due to illness or injury.


Injury / Concussion / Medical
1. A doctors note must be submitted if dancer is unable to participate due to injury/concussion/medical reasons.
2. A doctors note permitting dancer to return to class must be submitted in order for dancer to resume classes.

Virtual/Online Lesson Policy 

Lessons created by The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) Disclaimer and Safety Instructions:

There are risks of injuries when you are taking these virtual/online lessons.
Injuries such as, but not limited to, muscle ache, injured ankles and knees, cartilage and ligament damage.
You are responsible for warming up your body and creating an environment suitable for your own safety and to prevent accidents.
Incase of injury and/or material damage while doing these virtual/online classes you agree not to hold The Edge Performing Arts Inc. or employees responsible.
Safety Instructions

3. Do a warm up! Stretch your muscles

Payment Policy

You will be emailed an invoice via Square
- You can pay securely through the Square invoice that will been sent. Square accepts Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover credit cards and Visa debit cards.

Photo Release Policy

Occasionally The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.), will post photographs and/or video of students on their website. I consent that they may do so for advertising and promotional purposes without compensation to my child or myself. If I do not wish for images of my child to be used, I must email info@TheEdgePA.ca with the subject Cancel Photo Release in the subject line. Please advise your child's name in the email. Families that cancel Photo Release by email should not participate in the class pictures taken throughout the year (ie. parent viewing days, Halloween, Crazy Hair Day, Recital etc. as these photos WILL be posted. 

It is forbidden that any individual, corporation or organization to any way copy or use the photographs from the website for any purpose without the consent and written permission of The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) 
The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) does not authorize to have videos of their routines (groups/duet/trio/solos) posted on social media. Videos are for personal use only. Written permission from the choreographer and other participants is required to release the routine. If permission is granted, a maximum of 40 seconds may be posted giving credentials to the choreographer and The Edge School of Performing Arts.

Privacy Policy

- When you register for classes or workshops at The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.), the information we may collect from you includes your name, address, telephone numbers, email addresses, medical information. It may also include details of the products and services we provide to you as well as the status of your enrolment. We only collect information directly from the parent/guardians primarily for the purpose of providing services and products to you and to administer and manage invoicing and debt collection. We may occasionally use your information to promote and market to you information which we consider may be of interest to you unless you contact us and tell us not to do so. We will never sell or pass on any of your information to third parties unless required by government authorities or in the event of debt recovery. Any information passed on will be done so with appropriate privacy and confidentiality protection. Information is stored securely in paper or electronic form and is accessible only by authorized personnel. If you would like to know what information we hold about you or wish to update the information, or if you wish to be removed from all further direct marketing communications, please contact our office at info@TheEdgePA.ca

Medical Release Policy

I/We agree that my dependent or I give my permission for a member of The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.), to take myself or my child to a medical/dental facility if necessary.  In case of emergency, if none of the above can be contacted, we herby give our consent for emergency medical care prescribed by a duly licensed doctor of Medicine or Doctor of  Dentistry.  This care maybe given under whatever conditions are necessary to preserve the life, limb or well- being of my dependant.  We hereby accept full responsibility for all costs of said medical care or emergency treatments.  We hereby waive all claims whatsoever in connection with such medical treatments. 

Waiver and Release Policy

I/We Agree that if my dependent or I engage in any physical exercise, class or activity on the premises, any venue or virtual lesson where we participate as representative of The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) , we do so at our own risk.  We agree that we are voluntarily participating in activity and use said facilities, premises (including parking lot) and designated The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.) venues.  We assume all risk of injury, illness, damage, or loss to us or our property that might result, including, without limitation, any loss or theft of any personal property.  We agree that this consent and assumption of risk statement covers each and every event or activity sponsored by The Edge School of Performing Arts (The Edge Performing Arts Inc.)  and your affiliates and related parties an their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, instructors, insurers, shareholders, owners, operators from any and all liability and any and all claims, demands and causes of action of any kind whatsoever that we may have arising out of participation in a program or related activity, including as a result of negligence.  We acknowledge that we have carefully read this Waiver and Release and full understand that it is release of liability.  We are waiving  any right that we may have to bring legal action to assert  a claim against you for your negligence. 

COVID-19 Release Policy

COVID-19 Release Policy: The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. It is believed that an individual can be in infected with COVID-19 without their knowledge and be asymptomatic. The Edge Performing Arts Inc. has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. However, The Edge Performing Arts Inc. cannot guarantee that I or anyone else will not become infected with COVID-19, including my spouse, guests, unborn child, or relatives. Participation in a The Edge Performing Arts Inc. program(s), related event, or activity, could increase the risk of contracting COVID-19. By signing this agreement, I ACKNOWLEDGE the contagious nature of COVID-19 and VOLUNTARILY ASSUME THE RISK that I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by participating in a The Edge Performing Arts Inc. program(s), related event, or activity, and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death to myself, my spouse, guests, unborn child, or relatives. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at a The Edge Performing Arts Inc. program(s), related event, or activity may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of myself or others, including, but not limited to, The Edge Performing Arts Inc. employees, volunteers, and program participants. I UNDERSTAND AND VOLUNTARILY ACCEPT AND ASSUME ALL the foregoing risks related to COVID-19 and accept sole responsibility for any injury or illness that may occur. Further, I UNDERSTAND AND AGREE that this release includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of The Edge Performing Arts Inc., its employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any The Edge Performing Arts Inc. program(s), related event, or activity.
