Susan Kasaic
Susan brings dedication to The Edge School of Performing Arts that is reflected in the quality of the programs, events and facility. Her aim is to give all her students an enjoyable experience and sense of accomplishment at having done their personal best.
Susan grew up in Burlington, Ontario where her dance training began at the age of 4 at Burlington Dance Academy. It was there that her love for dance flourished. She completed all her Canadian Dance Teachers Association (C.D.T.A.) exams in jazz and tap with highly commended and honours. Additionally, Susan learned the art of ballet in the Cecchetti method, completing her exams from primary to elementary with honours as well.
Susan continued her training in a more competitive style with Canadian Dance Company (CDC) and BoJangles (Waterloo). She excelled as a competitive dancer receiving numerous awards and scholarships including Miss Dance of Canada, a scholarship to Kansas University Dance Program, a scholarship to L.A. Underground (a studio for professionals in Los Angeles) and was the recipient of several cash scholarships for being the top solo finalist at many competitions.
Susan moved on to teaching in 1994 while attending Waterloo University. She has taught dance in the Toronto, Oakville, Waterloo Areas. Susan attended The National Ballet School Teacher Training Program (private career college) studying psychology, anatomy, dance history, music and completed intermediate exams in R.A.D. and Cecchetti method. Along side her dance teacher training she completed a business course offered by the Ontario Government. In 1996 Susan was offered a teaching position at a dance school in Halton (Dance Magic) and within a few months was promoted to Artistic Director of the School and continued as Instructor/Artistic Director for two years. Susan passed her teaching certificates in ballet, Jazz, Tap and is fully certified Dance Educator/Teacher with P.A.E.C. (Performing Arts Educators of Canada)
Susan has had the privilege of choreographing routines for many award-winning routines that have earned performers many scholarships for outstanding dancing. Susan continues to take class at Metro Movement (a studio for professionals in Toronto), Dance Teacher Conventions/Workshops, Dance Teacher Certificates and Courses in Dance Education Childhood Development.
Susan believes that all children are blessed with creativity and love to perform. She says, The Edge is about more than teaching children to dance. The Edge is all about building self-esteem from within and developing artists as individuals.
